Flight 93 National Memorial

In the summer of 2006, I was in the vicinity of Shanksville, Pennsylvania, and stopped by the Flight 93 National Memorial.

The memorial

A temporary memorial is located on a hill top, 500 yards from the crash site.

The crash site is located down the hill, near the trees. (high-res)

Memorial benches are set-up, with names of each victim. The memorial also has this "ambassadors" kiosk, with local residents serving as ambassadors, there to answer questions. One can also go inside the kiosk and sign a tribute book. (high-res)

Shanksville

Also stopped in Shanksville itself, which is actually located 2 miles south of the crash site. Shanksville is so tiny and small, that I think everyone knows each other and it's obvious that I'm an outsider. (especially walking around with a camera, though try to be subtle) I figure that people don't want to be bothered.
